Lightning Hits Residence Hall
A CNU Email states: "Lightning struck a residence hall at Christopher Newport University Friday evening, Aug. 4, around 4:50 p.m.. Newport News firefighters and campus police went door to door to ensure that all students had left the building. Madison Hall is located behind CNU Village on Warwick Boulevard. The students were relocated temporarily to the nearby The Freeman Center. Temporary housing has been arranged for all displaced students. The residence hall houses about 76 students. The University will not have any estimate of damage to the building until the fire is extinguished and the building can be inspected."
