Hunter Creech
From CNUpedia, an IEEE Innovation.
Named after F. Hunter Creech Jr., the Hunter-Creech unix lab is the home to many CS Majors during their tenure at CNU. The lab was created in 1989 with funds provided by the Newport News Shipyard. The lab was originaly furnished with several sun sparc 5 workstations to replace the DEC main frame that was still on the campus at that time. Also at about that time the Internet first reached the campus.
Events
Twice a year Hunter-Creech is home to the ACM Programming Contest. In the fall many schools in the region travel, some over 6 hours, to CNU to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Region contest. The contest is a five hour long session where three programmers must solve eight programming problems. The team that gets the most problems correct in the quickest amount of time is declared the winner. In the spring CNU hosts their own local contest with 45 of the school's brightest programmers.
