History
344 was begun by a group of girls during their second year at Christopher Newport University. The original group of girls consisted of Ariel Wallingsford, Maureen Iselin, Caitlin O'Brien, Karyn Lance, Jenn Mandler and Kim Watts. Ariel and Karyn both roomed together freshman year and were something of the core composite of what would be 344. In the fall of 2003 the six members of 344 were assigned room #344 in James River Hall, hence the name. There were six girls in a tiny four bedroom apartment which lead to an inner-sect of 344 known as D block consisting of Karyn Lance, Ariel Wallingsford, and Caitlin O'Brien.
Current
In 2004 the girls of 344 moved to the CNU Apartments in the Madison building. Although their location changed, they kept the 344 tag. Kim Watts graduated in 2005 leaving an opening for a potential new member of the close knit group. As four of the members; Ariel Wallingsford, Maureen Iselin, Caitlin O'Brien and Karyn Lance moved to Port Warwick their senior year, Jenn Mandler stayed in Madison acquiring a new roommate, Lauren Crovato. She was initiated secretively by the girls of 344 in the fall of 05, thus creating a very dynamic group of girls.
Support
344 has been most closely associated with the members of Tri Pi. They have become the staple of the Tri Pi sideline and continue to host some of the best theme parties known to Christopher Newport University.
